Developed in the post-World War II building boom, Clairemont is a community in San Diego California that is mostly a suburban neighborhood. Clairemont extends from the 52 in the north and the 805 in the east to the 5 in the west. Clairemont is north of the community of Linda Vista. When Clairemont was developed, it was removed enough that it had a village-like atmosphere where commercial businesses and schools could develop from within. Although such suburban communities are now common, at the time when Clairemont was developed, constructing thousands of homes and developing communities in this manner was a very new approach.
